I finally finished reading this book. I know it is an international best seller, but truthfully I don't know if I liked it or not.
I promise to keep spoilers out as best I can, so this will be vague.
I liked the two main characters, but not really the results of what they did together. It felt a little predictable in some areas, including the discovery that they make. This is simply because the front of the book gives it away. (I won't say how.)
On the flip side of that, I loved how the two worked together. They were cohesive and not contrived. Certain characters are just too... predictable I guess is the best way for me to describe it. I also feel like in some ways they gave away too much info on one particular character lending to the predictability. Maybe I have just read too many books and seen too many mystery-thrillers. When I write, I try to go in the opposite direction that people expect, but there are always going to be the ones that can figure it out with the road map given. Perhaps I just picked up the clues a little quicker. Either way I am not saying that this book was bad. It was gutsy in some areas and was well written. I enjoyed the read and I would recommend the book. I plan to read the next book in the triology and see where it takes me. However, this will have to wait as I have about ten books I've bought recently and haven't read yet.
In other news...
North Baltimore, OH is where Brad and I will be moving this winter. We had considered buying a house right away, but as we are still here in Florida and this move will happen very quickly once we have the specific move date, we have decided to wait. We will instead find an apartment in nearby Bowling Green and take our time with the house hunt. Not to mention, I would like to be employed before we buy the house so that I can decorate and make the house a home. I have always enjoyed house hunting whenever we had to move as a kid and I still very much enjoy looking at real estate when I am looking for something to do while at work. There are several cute homes in this tiny town that I know will be our future home. We do not want to rush this process as it will be our first home together and we want to savor the moment.
Other than that life has been good to us. Work is going well for us both and we are looking forward to being reunited with our friends and family very soon. I am still not really looking forward to snow, but you have to give a little to get what you want sometimes. Brad just has to fly me south for a few weeks each winter!
