"Blizzard 2011"
Since Brad and I have been back, we have been waiting for a really awesome snow fall to go make a snowman in and maybe go sledding if it had fallen on his day off. Well, this blizzard was supposed to be it. They were predicting 18" of snow in the days leading up to the storm. Weather Channel was going crazy with all the news reports about how bad the snow was going to be. I made the comment on facebook/twitter that they all looked giddy with $$$ in their eyes. There weren't really any major hurricanes that came near land this year so they lost ratings there. Brad was saying the same thing. So, of course, as the storm began the snow totals began to drop. But wait, there's going to be ice!!!! Yeah, not so much for us. It was sleeting and the occasional freezing rain drops at the very most.
I did have fun though going outside and playing in the snow like when I was a kid. There was also another benefit of this, Brad got a snow day from training! He is currently working nights and he got a phone call yesterday afternoon saying that they were closing the terminal down for the day. They are not officially open for business until next month and the wind gusts were supposed to get to the point where the cranes would have automatically shut down. Sure enough last night the wind gusts were over 50mph. That would automatically shut the cranes down for safety reasons. Brad wasn't happy though, he wanted to be at work. I am so happy that he has a job that he actually wants to go to because that is such a rare thing. He did enjoy spending the night at home with me though.
Today, it is snowing once again. The flakes are fat and fluffy. I wish I could capture them a little better. In the meantime, here are some images that I captured the last few days.
