My wonderful man did something great for Valentine's Day this year, he took me to the Daytona 500 for the first time and I had a wonderful time! We left early in the morning to get to the track with time enough to look around a bit. Traffic was crazy from the minute we got on I-4 heading out of Orlando. Brad and I talked and talked for the first time in forever because it was the most time he and I had been able to spend together in quite some time. It was really nice. We arrived at the track and parked in a field before climbing on a school bus to be shuttled over to the track. We were sitting on the SuperStretch as the cars come out of Turn 2. We sat high enough that we had a fantastic view of the track there were only a few moments during the race that we lost sight of the cars. Thankfully we had a view of one of the giant video screens. I wanted to see more of the front stretch, but we were concerned about time, so we are going to make a day trip later in the season to see the Daytona Experience. I was hoping for more merchandise haulers on the back stretch, but there weren't many. I was surprised Dale Jr did not have a hauler back there besides his own team's hauler for Nationwide. Jr. finished 2nd after running in the teens for the majority of the day so I was excited as I watched him charge to the front. I had so many amazing experiences while there, including going out onto the track itself and signing the oustide wall. It was so great spending the day with Brad and I couldn't have asked for a better Valentine's Day.
This was the traffic....
Here is the Superstretch....

The Budweiser Clydesdales
It was a great adventure making it through the red flags for a pothole and surviving the coldest Daytona 500 in nearly 35 years... Its all good though I can't wait to do it again next year!
